Hi, my name is Maggie.
I have a story to tell you. It’s about my man and my marriage. Well, it’s about a lot of other stuff too…but it all ties in. When the whole thing started, with him, I mean, I had a dead mamma and a gay daddy. I loved daddy but I rarely saw him. He left the dry heat of Texas to go live in a different kind of heat in Los Angeles with his new man.
I was alone. I had been on my own for years. Even living with my folks I was alone. Then one fateful night I met Bruce and he began to sweep me off my feet. Girls, he was handsome and flaunted the money and promised a grand life. My coupon cutting days were over!
Well, it didn’t turn out like I’d hoped. He turned out to be a real rotten peach. And so was most of his family. On the outside we looked like the perfect. Behind closed doors it was a whole other story with emotional and physical abuse. I’ll leave it at that for now to keep this “G” rated.
When I begin my story I was approaching my tenth wedding anniversary…and I knew it was going to be my last. I had a plan. I had been working on it for some time. Solid plans do take time. I wasn’t about to just walk away with nothing!
So please take a look at my story. I want you to know I made it! I am happy!
And the funny part is, it didn’t happen quite the way I’d planned…

A fast entertaining read. You need to take this as it - a short story. Not a lot of depth but a well-fleshed out story in which a man gets what's coming to him. Does the woman? You don't really know, which is why I gave the story 3 stars rather than 4. This was more of a prelude to a bigger (and based on Serrano's writing story) better story. I wanted to know more about Maggie Hathaway.Maggie Hathaway tells the story two weeks after arriving on her daddy's doorstep. She tells the story in her unique story, sometimes going a bit off-track but getting the facts in without too many detours. She tells of her relationship with her husband, his family and their staff. It's not all bad livin' but some pretty bad moments but in the end the man gets his, as does his family. But I really wanted to know more - what's the story after the story. I guess I'll have to hope for a sequel.

The Plan edition by Heather Fahy Serrano Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I agreed to read this short novella in return for an honest review.
The plot of this book intrigued me - an abused women who gets her own back on her husband. The plot didn't let me down and it had some great little twists along the way. I loved reading about although not wanting to meet the family matriarch Judith. The little twists she had down for the family were something else!
I did enjoy the book, however, I wasn't prepared for the abuse to be described in such detail and I read to escape not witness pain. Just be prepared for this to be in places light hearted but also very gutsy when it comes to the actual abuse.
There were some good descriptions of the characters outward appearances, but it would have been nice to know more about them.
Abuse is a serious situation . With only 86 pages, this is more a short story and at the end of the book I had more questions than answers.
I believe once Ms. Serrano hits her stride, we'll see a more fleshed out work.
Wow! A short story that sucks you in from the very beginning. A marvelous story of how twisted society really is. The story has some hard content to read with things like abuse, sexism, and racism. You really begin to feel for the victims and want everything to end happily for Maggie. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a short, dramatic read. It makes you feel many emotions in the informal first-person writings of an abuse victim. I was able to finish the book in less than a day and could not be torn away from it. I felt for Maggie even if I have not experienced abuse myself, but Maggie's spirit makes you feel like you can stand up to anything and can really be a part of the drama.
