I was looking for a nice romantic suspense and since there were so many 5* reviews on this one I decided to give it a try. I will not recap the book, as the blurb described it perfectly well.

I absolutely loved that the book started with a bang, which sucked me completely into the main characters' adventure. Yes, the insta-love factor wasn't really my thing and didn't really persuade me…. - but why not? In fiction everything is allowed and isn't this what fiction is all about? I tried to be open-minded about this element as well as about the further developments, which were fast paced but somehow couldn't persuade me, especially because I continuously had the impression that the elaborations remained shallow and failed to convey atmosphere.

The male main character was very dominant and protective. I would've loved to find out more about him but as I haven't read the previous installments of the series I won't focus too heavily on this - I simply might have missed these elaborations in the previous installments. But what about the heroine? Yes, there were quite some details about her but I would've liked more and think that this might have added a bit more depth to the book. In any case, there was a lot of chemistry between the hero/ine and I might have loved to see them share some hot moments, but had to be happy with a few kisses here and there. Not that hot moments couldn't be integrated elegantly and discreetly into the plot line, which would have fit this book perfectly and taken this insta-love to the next level. But then again, I'm not the author and this is just my personal opinion.

The HEA was well written and very, very sweet. Maybe a bit sweet and too happy? But again, isn't this exactly what fiction is about?

Generally speaking, I wasn't disappointed in the book but neither was I deeply impressed. It was just another light romantic suspense, along the generally well known plots, which didn't add any new aspect or elaboration to the already very well know mix of this genre. Somehow I expected much more, especially because there were so many 5* reviews.

I loved this book. It was clean well written and full of suspense. I loved that we had more than one thing going at a time but in such a way that it was not confusing. Awesome
Another great book! I had a hard time putting it down. I've read all of Rebecca Deel's novels and this series and each holds your interest the entire time your reading. Romance, suspense and heros you really love get to know.
This was a great story, glad Bren got his story.
I was suspense and had class in the story.
Brent and Rowan faced many challenges.
Love seeing the other
characters from previous books, how all the teams work and back each other..
Can't wait for the next one.
I liked it ok. The first half I would rate 5 stars. The second half a 3. There were just too many close calls. One right after the other. Things felt like they just started dragging.
There was really no down time. I don't know anything about the two main characters past other than their jobs. I don't think the author described their looks very well.
Their was no sex scenes. Just a few kisses. That's a little disappointing but not a deal breaker. The H and h have known each other for a year so it was perfectly normal to me that they already have feeling for each other.
Great Story!!! Brent and Rowan made a great team - - so glad he found someone to love. When Rowan's sister and brother-in-law are killed and her niece is kidnapped, Brent steps in to help Rowan find out why they were killed and who kidnapped her niece. During this time, Brent is also being hunted by an ex-employee who wants him dead. A drug cartel, a militia group and the ex-employee keep Rowan, Brent and his team from Fortress Security busy. Once Rowan and her niece are reunited and taken to Mexico, things really heat up to bring them back alive. I love Ms. Deel's books and I am looking forward to her next one.
Although I have read the Otter Creek series (backwards by accident), this is my first Fortress book. I was familiar enough with the characters and truly wondered about the CEO, Brent. All of Ms. D eel's books are stand alone stories and she weaves so much suspense, action, and clean romance (not lust) that I KNOW I am going to be left with a wonderful story. This was truly one of those. The heroine had a spine and asked questions instead of make stupid decisions. She went through so much but it was great to see how their relationship progressed. It was also great to see this alpha male fall. This is one of those books I will definely reread again and again!
Loved this one. The action and suspense get intense, the romance is sweet yet clean, and the story grabs you from the beginning.

After reading the other Fortress Security books so far I was very interested to read Brent’s story. I liked the uniqueness of his story- there was more than just a romance at the end...a whole family.

Rowan was a very relatable character. She rose to every occasion with guts, yet still fell apart after the terror fled. I loved how fiercely she protected her niece. Alexis was a wonderful part of this book!

As always, the minute I finish one book I am itching to read the next!
